externship

Yay! I got the externship I wanted! I was getting bummed that they hadn't called me back at all after I sent them my resume, but they called me yesterday & want me to start Monday. It is a new dental office, literally right down the road from my parents house in Eagle Mountain. That's why I wanted it, so I can easily drop my kids off at my parent's house & then they will drop the girls off at school & Dan will pick them up at 3:30. It should work really well I hope! I have 100 hours to do & then they will most likely hire me on. I think I'm working part-time, not sure what days yet. They are only open Monday - Thursday anyway. My day tomorrow is CRAZY!! I have work from 8-5 & then straight from there I go to school from 6-10! Wish me luck!!

P.S. Don't ask me the difference between an externship & an internship because I really don't know! That's just what my school is calling it. All I know is that I'm not getting paid, but am getting my foot in the door.

El's talk

El gave her first talk in Primary a few weeks ago. She read it herself, it was very cute. We put pictures on the paper so that she could remember certain parts (an idea from Dan's co-worker). Here is a clip of her practicing at home.

Easter

We had a great Easter weekend. My parents were in town & we had a nice dinner at my house. We had a neighborhood egg hunt, & dyed eggs of course. I was happy that Sunday was a nice day & we were able to have a little egg hunt in our yard. After dinner, we all took turns reading the Easter story from an object lesson/egg thing that I made in seminary back in the day.

Spring Break

El had her spring break last week & Dan decided to take the week off too. We went to the Hill Aerospace Museum, the Zoo, & Monsters vs. Aliens 3D movie (which was very cool). We also took a trip to the mall to visit Build-a-Bear Workshop to get some new clothes for El's Teddy Bear Picnic that's coming up this month at school. We spent some time with Dan's mom, who was in town & she was able to come to the zoo with us. The airplane museum was a little boring after a while, but the girls enjoyed the kids area & Dan loved it all of course. Afterward we went to Famous Dave's BBQ, since we've never been there & have heard good things about it. It was SO yummy! I can't wait to go back there! And of course we ended up getting too much stuff at the Disney Store! Good thing I don't go to the mall too often! Anyway, we had a lot of fun even though we neglected most of our Spring cleaning plans! Oh well...

nothing much

Well I don't have much to say here, but am kinda tired of looking at that picture of me! I have really been enjoying my dental assisting program. I feel like I finally found something that's right for me. I like it so much, I've been researching dental hygiene programs in the area. I have to finish a few prereqs before I can apply, we'll see. Dan wants me to work for a while first, to make sure I like the dental healthcare field. So far I have found the subject material to be really interesting. We learned how to paper chart tooth decay the other day, which I found really fun! I'm going to try to do my externship at my dentist's office. I would love to do it there & hopefully get hired there, since it is about 2 minutes away from my house. I am also working on my resume, which looks pretty pathetic considering I haven't had a job since I was 18!

We are getting ready for Spring Break & then Easter. Dan is going to take the week off, so we have a lot of fun stuff planned. It will also give us a chance to finish some projects around the house, get our garden ready, & do some much needed spring cleaning. Then my parents are coming to visit & have Easter festivities with us. I am way excited! Should be fun.

Sorry no pictures, I am too lazy to download my camera!!

off to dental school

My dental assisting program starts on Saturday & I am way excited! I really don't even know what brought this on, but it just came to me one day & I started researching it. My mom actually used to be a dental assistant up until she had Darin (my oldest brother). Later on, I will probably do the longer, more difficult, more time-consuming (& more expensive) dental hygiene program, but for now this works for me.

I just kind of wanted to start working part-time since my kids will be in pre-school 3 days a week. I think it's because I got married during my freshman year of college & started our family right away, I never got the chance to finish school or work at all. I honestly didn't think I wanted a career, but at this point I kind of would like to do something like that. I definitely don't regret getting married young & all that though.

I am really happy right now & it will be really nice to have extra money for extracurricular activities for the kids, vacations, & home decor, etc. The program is 3 months long plus a 100 hour residency in a dentist's office. It's Saturdays & Monday/Wednesday nights, so I won't miss my kids much. I just got my new scrubs the other day. I'm looking forward to being able to work in basically pajamas!

agility

I've been thinking about starting Wilby in an agility training class & then maybe we can enter some competitions. It looks like a lot of fun & a good way to keep him in shape. I've found a lot of programs in my area.

Easter Dresses

I just LOVE Easter time! I'm trying to decide on dresses for the girls. I think I'm going to go with this set & have them both match. Doesn't it just look like a perfectly painted Easter egg? Love it!
