not bored anymore

Well, now that I'm out of my "baby fog" I'm starting to realize that Eliška is bored out of her mind! All of a sudden I've got a 3 yr. old who needs more stimulation & new activities. So, I have been trying really hard to plan fun things everyday & it is going really well. First off this book of activities, games & crafts is a life saver! I love it, there's also a toddler & older child version. Some of the ideas we've tried out are painting with shaving cream in the bathtub & finger painting with pudding. I found out that Emma doesn't like getting messy, kind of funny! We're going to make some Halloween spiders out of yarn later this week. Today we went to the Library for the first time & went to story time, which was so fun. They had dancing, singing & of course stories. Then we went to McDonald's for lunch (something we normally don't do), Eliška calls it "Old McDonald's" because of the song. The play area was deafening, I couldn't stand it for very long, but Eliška absolutely loves the slides & tubes. So, we are having a lot of fun & I am really loving motherhood right now!

my latest movie

The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio
"All right kids, let's go to bed. I'm tired of this day, I need a new one."
(my favorite line from the film)
This was a touching story of a mother (played by Julianne Moore) in the 50's who held her family together through some really tough times, by winning various contests (based on a true story).

Just for Laughs
If you're looking for something entertaining to watch, this Canadian TV show of hidden camera pranks & gags is probably the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life! We first saw it on BBC & now abc is showing it every Tuesday night @ 8:30 (ET). Dan & I were laughing so hard, it's just great fun. You can see a few clips on abc.com (click on the "Just for Laughs" link under "shows").

I Love Harry Potter

Yes, I admit it. I am one of the many obsessed fans out there who just can't get enough. We saw "The Order of the Phoenix" last night. Fantastic movie! It stayed very true to the book with only a few minor changes to the story. The special effects were great & the score was beautiful. It definitely helps if you read the books beforehand. I don't want to give too much away if you don't know the story, but my favorite scenes were at the end with Fred & George and then when everyone is at The Department of Mysteries. Imelda Staunton played Umbridge perfectly, in my opinion & Evanna Lynch did a great job as Luna, especially for having no prior acting experience. You should definitely go see this movie, even if you're not into the whole Potter mania. It's still a very entertaining movie, definitely the scariest though. There were a few kids in front of us that got quite frightened at the end. Anyway, now I'm just waiting for The Deathly Hallows to come out next Saturday (the final book). We have pre-ordered 2, so that we can read them at the same time. Yeah I know, we're nerds. I am quite sad that the series is ending. At least I have 2 more movies to look forward to though.

Target's Dollar Section
I totally raided Target's dollar section the other day! It's at the front of the store and I can't help but stop there every time I go in. They always have different themes, this last time was Sesame Street, which Eliška has totally gotten into lately. I got some really cute little hair ties, stickers, and board books. I usually spend like $20 just on dollar items. They have some really cute little Easter things that I'm going to get next time for Easter basket fillers.Previously, I've gotten Curious George stuff, little wooden trains, toy food, and Hello Kitty stuff. We got all our stocking stuffers from this aisle for Christmas. The stocking stuffer IQ tests we got were a big hit actually. You know those little metal puzzles that you have to get apart. Dan and I were timing each other to see who could do it the fastest, it was actually quite fun. Although, Dan had to first show me how to do each one!
