off to dental school

My dental assisting program starts on Saturday & I am way excited! I really don't even know what brought this on, but it just came to me one day & I started researching it. My mom actually used to be a dental assistant up until she had Darin (my oldest brother). Later on, I will probably do the longer, more difficult, more time-consuming (& more expensive) dental hygiene program, but for now this works for me.

I just kind of wanted to start working part-time since my kids will be in pre-school 3 days a week. I think it's because I got married during my freshman year of college & started our family right away, I never got the chance to finish school or work at all. I honestly didn't think I wanted a career, but at this point I kind of would like to do something like that. I definitely don't regret getting married young & all that though.

I am really happy right now & it will be really nice to have extra money for extracurricular activities for the kids, vacations, & home decor, etc. The program is 3 months long plus a 100 hour residency in a dentist's office. It's Saturdays & Monday/Wednesday nights, so I won't miss my kids much. I just got my new scrubs the other day. I'm looking forward to being able to work in basically pajamas!

I always wanted to have a job where I could wear scrubs everyday. I guess my job as a mom doesn't really require fancy clothes anyway! Sounds like fun, I hope it goes well for you!

Who doesn't want to work in their pajamas? Besides you look "terriff" as they say in Thoroughly Modern Millie. Best wishes with schooling!

Way to go! I think you'll do great. And I'll tell you, it IS nice to have the extra money for the "extras". (Just don't work 40 hours a week...becuase it's boring and dumb.)

That's AWESOME!! I was talking with your Mom about it this past weekend, and I think it's fantastic that you get to go to school! Totally jealous of the scrubs by the way.

You will have to give us all an update on what you think of it so far. Dental hygenist or assisting is what I was thinking of doing right before I got married. It's totally cool that you are doing that.
You look way cute in your scrubs:)
