first day of school 2010

Here is our home away from home (luckily just behind our house) we pretty much live here it seems! 8 - 5 Monday through Friday. It's nice that we're all at one place. I love to peek in on the girls and see what they're up to.

Western Day 2010

We had such a fun western day at school the other week! Here are some pictures...

first day of school

I felt like crying after I dropped the girls off for their first day of preschool today! I don't know where that came from, but I was hit with a wave of sadness. Anyway, I'm about to pick them up. Hopefully things went well. I keep worrying that Em will pee her pants. The funny thing is, they're in the same class this year! It's a 3 & 4 yr. old combo class, with two teachers. So a lot of the curriculum will be done in separate groups. Anyway, I can't believe my babies are in school! I got so many errands done while they were at school today! It's awesome!

Pre-school Spring Program

So school got out on Friday. We will all miss El's teacher, Miss Heather. We were hoping she would be Em's teacher this fall, but she is moving to Arizona. El is sad that school's out, she has really enjoyed it.

We are bummed that she will miss the Kindergarten cut-off, since she has been doing really well in school this past year. She already finished the 3 & 4 year old programs, so we will be putting her in Challenger's "Jr. K" program, where she will be able to start some of the Kindergarten curriculum.

So Emma will be going to pre-school as well in August, which is really cutting it close for me to put the finishing touches on this whole potty-training ordeal! It is pretty much impossible to potty-train while I'm working full time.

I am going to be changing my work schedule to just 2 days a week at the office & then another part-time gig I got , scheduling dental appointments in the evenings. I'm really looking forward to this, because I hate working full time!!! I miss my kids!

Miss Heather & the girls

don't mind El's hair (Grandma did it :)

the class sang all the songs they've learned over the past few months

the video of all the songs is taking too long to upload...

Eliska can read!

Yesterday when I picked El up from school, her teacher told me that El had read her very first book all by herself! I am really proud of her, we have been working on reading a lot lately & her teacher said it shows. So now twice a week, she gets these little books to take home and keep. Very exciting, I didn't read till Kindergarten!

P.S. I can't find my camera or I would've taken a picture of her with her book

El's pre-school Christmas program

Santa made a visit to El's class

El's teacher, Miss Heather

here are some video clips of the songs they sang. They sang everything that they've learned so far this year ( I didn't post all of them). It is pretty crazy because they are all shouting!

Pre-school Halloween Party

They made a special witch brew (homemade root beer) & had caramel apples. I forgot to take a picture of the pumpkin her class painted! Here is Eliška's class song...

I know my abc's!

We are very proud of Eliška because she has been working very hard to learn all of her letters & each sound they make in her class at school. They take a little "test" each Monday to see what progress they've made. Yesterday Eliška passed & received her alphabet crown which is quite a big deal to her! She gets her name up on the alphabet board at school too. Now she is working on her blending badge, where she will start to blend a vowel & consonant together in order to start reading. She is very excited & practicing very hard.

Congratulations Eliška!

first day of school

This is me on my first day of 1st grade I think (I'm in my Girl Scouts uniform) and this is Eliška on her first day of pre-school. She loved it, but it was so weird for me to have her gone! We are very close & have never been away from each other for too long. I was able to do some sewing, so it was kinda nice.

getting ready for school

I have been feeling very sentimental this past week as my baby is starting school! Okay, just pre-school, but still it kind of just hit me that she's like this cute little grown-up almost 4 yr. old! It's just crazy, I never thought I'd make it through those baby days, but here I am now entering the school phase. I can't even think about Em going next year! I know we're both ready for school, but it's still just really strange...

Ok, this is El's FIRST ever haircut! It was very emotional! I saved a lock of hair for her baby book.
the new do (much better, not as scraggley)

a little back to school fashion show

We went to back to school night & got to meet El's teacher, Miss Heather. She is SO excited, she just wanted us to leave!
